Another part of the reason is I'm feeling a little paranoid about putting too much information about my projects. The constant government data gathering makes me wonder if any of my posting about clearing land, burn piles or building ponds would catch the eye of some EPA regulator interesting in gathering more power and tax revenue.
However, my love of the land has overcome my funease of the government taking it away from me and so I've decided to post again.
One of my recent projects has been planting clover in the summer pen in anticipation of getting a cow. I planted a several acre area in White Clover in the fall and it immediately started growing. A good sign!
However, Sadie was still in the pen and I was worried she would eat all the clover before it had a chance to get established, so I decided to put my temporary electric fence around it to see if it made a difference.
It did seem to make a difference, so I decided to leave it up even after I moved Sadie to the winter pen.

One thing I noticed during the winter is that even though the deer could easily jump the fence, the deer never tried to get into the fenced area until last week when the a stormed knocked the electricity out.
Once the power was down, the deer didn't waste a minute getting inside the fence and browsing. I'm not sure if deer like clover or they saw something else inside the fence they liked. Either way it's good stuff to know.
I also had a chance to start on my other project which is the Meadow Trail. I've been noodling this trail since last year as way to connect some pretty meadows that are impossible to get to in the summer as well as to open up more areas.

We also got a chance to do a burn pile and get rid of some cedars in the graveyard area. It's amazing how much energy that cedar releases when it catches fire. We like to call it organic gasoline.
